On March 7, 2009 Umoja hosted two events with Artist Sidney Carter. The theme was “Black History Through the Arts.” The first event was held at the Carver Recreation Center and was designed to get the children interested and involved in art.
The second event was an evening with the Artist at The Charles in downtown Johnson City. Everyone that attended was treated to hors d'oeuvres, music, and just socializing with the artist and each other. Sidney Carter had some of his magnificent artwork on display also.
